Annamoe Trout Fishery
Annamoe Trout Fishery comprises a four acre trout lake stocked with hard fighting rainbow’s, an adjacent fishing pond suitable for Juniors, and a cosy log cabin club house where angler’s can purchase flies, various ancillary tackle, enjoy refreshment’s, or just relax. Located in the village of Annamoe, Co. Wicklow off the R755, five minutes from both Roundwood to the north and Laragh/Glendalough to the south, proprietor Brian Nally welcomes individuals, families, corporate groups, and tourists visiting the area.
Open from 10.00am to dusk inclusive of weekends Annamoe is a mature tree lined fishery set in a pastoral location. Well tended to, with plenty of space for casting, a picnic/barbecue area, and wooden seats set at intervals around the water on which to rest your weary bones, whether a beginner or seasoned game fisher Annamoe Trout Fishery is a beautiful place to wile away a few hours.
Suitable fly patterns include boobies, zonker type lures, damsel fly, bibio, bloodworm, various buzzers, and dry daddy long legs. Bring reels loaded with both floating and sinking lines and work with a six – eight pound b/s leader as Annamoe trout can run large. Proprietor Brian Nally also has a range of tackle for hire aimed at beginners, groups, and those in the area who might just fancy a cast, and gives tuition in fly casting and game fishing techniques.
A speciality of Annamoe are the numerous corporate outings, youth groups, and charity events that Brian and his able assistant Rose cater for every year. From soup and sandwiches, cold meat platters, salads, to a full on hot buffet, nothing is left to chance, and there is always a plentiful supply of teas, coffees, biscuits , and snacks. Regular features in the Annamoe angling year calendar being the annual Irish Times media outing and the Action Breast Cancer Ladies Day event.
To fish at Annamoe just turn onto the R755 at Kilmacanogue, located on the N11 just south of Bray, Co. Wicklow and follow the road up through the Rocky Valley onto Calary Bog. Leaving the Sugar Loaf mountain behind you to your left, continue for ten minutes on the relatively straight road through the village of Roundwood towards Glendalough. Five minutes later you will sweep around a long right hand bend, cross the Avonmore River and immediately see the entrance to Annamoe Trout Fishery signposted to your right. Tight lines…….
