Fishing
County Monaghan is synonymous with excellent coarse fishing for bream, roach, hybrids, tench, and perch. Waters such as Lough Muckno, Lough Major, Lough Egish, Baird’s shore, and the Dromore system are within easy reach (5 -15 minutes drive), providing quality pole, feeder, and waggler fishing.
Pike fishing on Lough Muckno, Lough Egish, the Dromore System, and a host of smaller productive waters is first class. The average size runs 8 – 10 lbs with a twenty pound pike always on the cards. Lure fishing, dead baiting, sink and draw, and float drifting from a boat are all methods that score.

Fishing the local lakes by boat is the ultimate experience. More water is covered allowing greater opportunity to connect with that monster pike or to bag up on bream and roach from that hard to reach swim.
